Illustration & Design
Having been a freelance designer for approximately 15 years, Matt has been hired for a variety of projects. However, in his past he has also been employed as a Graphic Designer, Marketing Coordinator, and Marketing Manager. Illustration and Design are also intimately interwoven into all that Matt does; regardless if he is proposing to his wife, creating a logo for a freelance client, or designing the content for the classes he teaches. This page provides a survey of some of his work.

BAC Swim Team Logo
The Bakersfield Aquatic Club was in need of a logo featuring their team mascot, the Orca. As such, the fierce yet family friendly logo was created. The logo was featured on lycra and silicone swim caps, stationary, swim suits, parkas, buttons, clip boards, social media, and the team's website.

The Beethoven Bear
Beethoven Street Elementary School in Santa Monica, CA was in need of a new logo for their mascot, the bear. The logo was designed and placed on stationary, school signage, their website, and was also laid into a tile mosaic in the principles office.

Marmalade Bake Shop
A small bakery run out of the clients home was in need of a brand identity. One element that was reoccurring in discussion with the client was marmalade. Hence it's primary ingredient of citrus was incorporated into the logo.

BHS T-Shirt Design
In the Fall of 2021, the BHS Swim Team coach saw a social media art project Matt had been posting. Impressed with the artwork, the coach commissioned a piece of artwork that would mark the pandemic timeframe for the swim team. An illustration was created depicting swimmers wearing various masks.

Canvas Course Design
Matt is a Professor in the Academic Technology Department at Bakersfield College, where he also co-teaches an English B2 with his wife through a Harry Potter theme. In addition to developing curriculum, Matt also creates the entire Canvas course, including all of the graphics meant to emulate a Harry Potter theme.

Comics
Matt has been fascinated with graphic narratives or sequential art for as long as he can remember. In fact, his initial dissertation was going to continue that exploration. Currently, he has several comics passion projects that he is working on Gnarly Pines, and Hay on Life. ("Hay"-pronounced "High" is an Armenian word meaning, "Armenian.") Matt also proposed to his wife in a series of comics distributed throughout a scavenger hunt.
